As I was reading some great thoughts of a few youth that I know on the subject of dating and courtship, I was reminded of a profound quote from Paul Tripp:
"Often, what we think is love is not actually love at all. Think about this: It could be that I'm attracted to you, not because I love you, but I'm attracted to you because I love me."
Tripp expounds on this notion (as well as many other marriage thoughts) in his DVD series "What Did You Expect?: Redeeming the Realities of Marriage". I highly recommend it! For those of you who can't shell out the $40 for it now, be sure and follow the link anyhow as there is a free discussion guide which lists many of the key points. There is much to be gleaned from the material. May it whet your appetite!
